Hellenic Post Office celebrates World Environment Day with five stamps depicting Greek Geoparks for the first time. UNESCO Global Geoparks are a single, unified geographical area with sites and landscapes of international geological significance, boasting rich biodiversity and distinct cultural characteristics. The stamps depict the following Geoparks:

• Vikos-Aoos, characterised by the Vikos and Aoos gorges, high mountain peaks and rivers
• Sitia, with its caves, gorges, mammal fossils and high cliffs
• Lesvos Island, with its famous Petrified Forest
• Psiloritis, an excellent example of how mountain ranges are formed and of Crete’s mountainous interior
• Chelmos-Vouraikos, with the National Park of the same name

The stamps and the F.D.C. will be available from the date of their release until June 4th, 2024. The Numbered Set Pack will be available until sold out.

Collectors can have their philatelic items franked with the special commemorative first day of issue postmark by sending their postal items to the Philatelic Service (100 Aiolou St, second floor, 101 88 Athens), provided stamps from the set with a minimum value of 0,90 € are affixed to them. Please mark the envelope “PHILATELIC ITEMS”.
