The Philatelic Society of Lesvos together with the Municipality of Mytilini honor the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Disaster by gathering an incomparable historical treasure from the period 1919-1922 regarding the events that took place, preceded and followed the Asia Minor Disaster. For the opening of the "Memory of Minority 2022" exhibition, the Hellenic Post designed and released a Special Commemorative Postmark dated 9.10.2022.
The postmark depicts the Evangelistria boat, in which the Charalambous family traveled to Lesvos from the coast of Asia Minor in August 1922 and is a recognized monument of cultural heritage.

The Special Commemorative Postmark is available for 3 consecutive Thursdays from its release date, at the Syntagma Post Office, Mitropoleos 2, 105 63 Athens, from 09:00 to 13:00.
Alternatively, you can send your postal items free of charge to the Philatelic Service (100 Eolou St., 2nd floor, 10188 Athens), within 60 days from the release date (the post office stamping indicates the date of posting).
Philatelic items to be postmarked must bear the name and full address of the sender so that they can be sent to them. Please mark the envelope “PHILATELIC ITEMS”.
ATTENTION! In order to obtain an imprint of the commemorative postmark on a postal item, you must have affixed stamps of at least the minimum value of B’ priority domestic mail ( 20 gr), today €0.90.
At the end of the year, Hellenic Post will make available all commemortive postmarks on illustrated envelopes. Each envelope will have the minimum value of B’ priority domestic mail (20 gr), today €0.90, stamp affixed to it and will be stamped with one of the special commemorative postmarks for 2022.
